Frequently Asked Questions

Copy the tweet URL from your browser address bar or the share menu, paste it into the download field above, and click Download. You'll get the video at the highest available quality. Works with both twitter.com and x.com links.

Yes. Twitter stores GIFs as short MP4 video loops. When you download a tweet containing a GIF, you'll receive it as an MP4 file — which is actually higher quality and smaller in file size than the original GIF format.

Yes. Both the legacy twitter.com and the new x.com domains are fully supported. We automatically handle URL redirects between the two, so just paste whichever link you have.

You can download videos (at the highest available bitrate as MP4), GIFs (delivered as MP4), and photos (original JPEG or PNG resolution). If a tweet contains multiple images, each one is available individually.

No. We never ask for your Twitter/X credentials. The tool works with public tweets only, using SSL encryption throughout. We don't store personal data or downloaded files.

No. We only support public tweets. Content from protected accounts or deleted tweets cannot be accessed — this protects account holders' privacy settings.

Downloading your own tweets and media is generally permitted. GetVideoNow is built for creators who want to archive their best content, repurpose video tweets for other platforms, or recover media for re-editing. Always respect copyright on content created by others.

Your limit depends on your plan: Free includes 75 downloads, Basic allows 250, Pro gives 500, and Expert provides 1,000 per month. Daily and hourly rate limits also apply. Check the Pricing page for the full breakdown.

Creators commonly download their own content to archive viral video tweets before they get buried in the feed, repurpose video clips for YouTube or Instagram, recover GIFs and short clips for longer-form content compilations, and build media kits or press packages with their best work.

Verify the tweet is public, the URL is complete and correct, and the tweet hasn't been deleted. Some tweets may not contain downloadable media (text-only tweets). If problems persist, try refreshing the page or using the alternate URL format (switch between twitter.com and x.com).

X streams most videos using HLS (HTTP Live Streaming), which delivers the video as a playlist of small encrypted chunks rather than a single downloadable file. When you right-click in the browser, you only see a reference to the streaming playlist, not a complete MP4. GetVideoNow assembles those chunks into a single complete MP4 file before delivering the download — this is the fundamental difference between a streaming format and a downloadable file, and why browser-level right-click saves do not work for X videos.

Yes. X Live replays that were saved publicly after the broadcast ended can be downloaded through GetVideoNow. Copy the URL of the replay post and paste it as you would any other tweet. Not all live streams are saved — the broadcaster must choose to save the replay, and X may remove replays after 30 days depending on account settings. If the replay URL returns an error, the broadcast was likely ended without saving the recording.

About Twitter / X Downloads

Twitter, now rebranded as X, is one of the most important platforms for real-time news, commentary, and viral video clips. Native X videos — which play directly in the timeline — range from breaking news footage and sports highlights to comedy sketches and brand campaigns. Videos on X can be surprisingly hard to save using browser tools alone, because the platform uses HLS streaming. GetVideoNow bypasses this by downloading the highest available quality MP4 directly, complete with audio.

What You Can Download from Twitter / X

Native X / Twitter Videos

Download videos posted natively to X (Twitter) as MP4 files. These are the videos that auto-play as you scroll through your timeline.

GIFs (as MP4)

X GIFs are actually silent looping MP4 files. Download them in their true MP4 format — smaller file size and higher quality than traditional GIF.

X Live Replays

Download replays of X Live (formerly Twitter Live / Periscope) broadcasts that have been saved publicly after the stream.

News & Trending Clips

Archive breaking news clips, viral moments, and trending video content before it gets deleted or restricted.

Troubleshooting Twitter / X Downloads

"Tweet not found" or deleted content

The tweet may have been deleted by the author or removed by X moderation. If the tweet URL returns a 'This post is unavailable' message in your browser, the content can no longer be accessed.

Video quality is low or blurry

X compresses uploaded videos significantly. The download tool retrieves the highest available bitrate, but if the original was uploaded in low resolution, that's the maximum quality available.

GIF won't loop when downloaded

X GIFs are actually MP4 video files, not traditional GIF format. Most video players and social platforms will play them correctly, but you may need to set your media player to loop playback manually.

Protected or private account content

Videos from protected (locked) X accounts are only visible to approved followers and cannot be downloaded without authentication. Only public tweets are supported.

X videos behind an age-restriction or account privacy setting are not publicly accessible and cannot be downloaded. Content from suspended or protected accounts is also unavailable.
