Frequently Asked Questions

Open the post or Reel in your browser, copy the URL from the address bar (or tap the share icon and select Copy Link), paste it into the download field above, and click Download. Your media is delivered in its original quality.

Yes. If a Story is publicly accessible, paste its URL and download it just like any other post. This is especially useful for archiving time-limited content you've published to your own account.

When you download a carousel post, each slide is available as an individual file. You can download every photo and video from the carousel in its original resolution — nothing is compressed or cropped.

Files are delivered in the original upload quality — H.264 MP4 for video, full-resolution JPEG for photos. There's no re-encoding or quality loss. What you uploaded is what you get back.

No. We never ask for your Instagram or Meta credentials. The tool works with publicly accessible URLs only, and all transfers are encrypted via SSL. We don't store any personal data.

No. We only support public content. Private accounts, restricted posts, and expired Stories from private profiles cannot be accessed — this protects creator privacy.

Downloading your own published Instagram content is generally permitted for personal use. GetVideoNow is built for creators who want to back up, re-edit, or repurpose their own work. Always respect copyright if downloading content you didn't create.

Your monthly download limit depends on your plan: Free gets 75, Basic gets 250, Pro gets 500, and Expert gets 1,000 downloads per month. There are also daily and hourly caps. Visit the Pricing page for specifics.

Creators commonly download their own content to repurpose Reels as TikToks or YouTube Shorts without watermarks, archive their best work before account changes, recover original files for re-editing with new captions or branding, and build portfolios for brand partnerships.

It works on any device with a modern browser — phones, tablets, and computers running Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. No app needed.

Make sure the content is from a public account, the URL is complete and correct, and the post hasn't been deleted. If it still fails, try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache. Some region-restricted content may also be unavailable.

Instagram compresses every video at upload — typically to 1080×1920 at around 3,500 kbps for Reels. The downloaded file is the best version Instagram stores, which may look softer than your original camera footage if you filmed in 4K. To maximize quality, always upload from WiFi using a 1080p or higher source file. The downloader retrieves exactly what Instagram has stored; it cannot recover detail that Instagram discarded during initial processing.

No. Instagram does not notify creators when someone accesses or downloads their public content. The download works by retrieving the same video data your browser loads when you view the post normally — no special API call and no notification trigger. That said, only download content you own or have explicit permission to use. Downloading to republish someone else's content without attribution may violate copyright law regardless of whether they are notified.

This almost always happens with Reels that use music from Instagram's licensed audio library. Instagram licenses those tracks for in-app playback only; the license does not transfer to downloaded files, so the audio is stripped during processing. To avoid the problem, use original audio, record your own voiceover, or choose royalty-free music when creating content you plan to download and repurpose. If you need the audio from a Reel that used licensed music, you will need to source a clean version of that track separately.

About Instagram Downloads

Instagram is Meta's photo and video sharing platform, home to over two billion monthly active users. Creators publish Reels (up to 90 seconds of vertical video), Stories (24-hour disappearing content), photo Carousels, and long-form video posts. GetVideoNow lets you download any public Instagram content in its original resolution — no login required — so you can back up your own work, repurpose videos across platforms, or save visual inspiration before it expires.

What You Can Download from Instagram

Instagram Reels

Download Reels as MP4 files at their original resolution (up to 1080p). Ideal for repurposing on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook Reels, or your own website.

Photos & Image Posts

Save individual photos from Instagram posts as high-resolution JPEG files, preserving the original quality exactly as uploaded by the creator.

Carousel Posts

Download every slide from a multi-image or mixed photo/video carousel in one action — each asset is saved separately at full resolution.

Stories

Capture Stories before they disappear after 24 hours. Both photo and video Stories from public profiles can be saved instantly.

Troubleshooting Instagram Downloads

"Content not available" for a post

The post may be from a private account. Instagram requires accounts to be public for content to be accessible without login. Ask the account owner to switch to public, or log in to your Instagram to view it directly.

Only getting low-resolution images

Instagram sometimes serves lower-quality versions through its CDN. Try downloading shortly after the post is published, when the highest resolution is most reliably available.

Story download fails or shows expired

Instagram Stories disappear after 24 hours. If the Story has expired, it's no longer accessible. For Highlights (pinned Stories), make sure you're copying the Highlight URL, not a regular Story link.

Carousel only downloads the first image

Paste the main post URL (not a direct image link). The tool will detect all slides in the carousel and offer each one for download.

Content from private Instagram accounts is not accessible through this tool. Always download only content you own or have explicit permission to use.
