Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Once a Facebook Live broadcast has ended and is saved as a video on your Page or profile, you can download it just like any other video. Live streams that are still in progress cannot be downloaded.

Yes. Facebook Reels are supported. Copy the Reel URL and paste it in — you'll get the video file in its original upload quality.

Most Facebook videos are available in HD (up to 1080p) and SD quality, both in MP4 format. The available quality depends on what the uploader originally published. You can also grab the video thumbnail.

No. We never ask for your Facebook or Meta credentials. The tool processes publicly accessible URLs only. All transfers are encrypted with SSL, and we don't store personal data or video files.

No. We only support publicly accessible content. Videos in closed/private groups, private profiles, or restricted posts cannot be downloaded — this is by design to respect privacy settings.

Downloading your own published Facebook videos is generally permitted. GetVideoNow is built for creators and businesses who need to back up Page content, repurpose videos across platforms, or recover files for re-editing. Always respect copyright on content you didn't create.

Your monthly limit depends on your plan: Free includes 75 downloads, Basic allows 250, Pro provides 500, and Expert gives you 1,000. Daily and hourly rate limits also apply. See the Pricing page for details.

Common use cases include archiving marketing videos before campaigns change, recovering content after team turnover, repurposing Page videos for YouTube or Instagram, saving Facebook Live recordings for future editing, and compiling video assets for presentations or reports.

Check that the video is from a public Page or profile, the URL is complete (not shortened), and the video hasn't been removed. Facebook sometimes changes video accessibility — try accessing the video directly in your browser first. If issues persist, refresh the page or clear your browser cache.

Facebook strips licensed audio from downloaded files when the music rights cannot be confirmed for redistribution. This most commonly affects Facebook Reels that use tracks from Facebook's licensed music library, or live replay recordings where a copyrighted song was playing in the background. If a video had audio in the app but the download is silent, the audio was removed during processing due to content ID detection. To avoid this with your own content, use original audio or royalty-free music that you have rights to reproduce outside the platform.

Facebook videos are horizontal or square-format posts, while Facebook Reels are vertical short-form videos (up to 60 seconds) similar to TikTok. Both download as MP4 files, but the aspect ratio differs — videos are typically 16:9 (1920×1080) and Reels are 9:16 (1080×1920). If you plan to repurpose the content on another platform, match the downloaded format to the destination: use Reels footage for TikTok or Instagram Reels, and horizontal video footage for YouTube or standard social posts.

Troubleshooting Facebook Downloads

"Video not available" on a public post

Some Facebook videos use DRM or are restricted by the Page's country settings. If the video plays in your browser but fails here, the content may use a protected streaming format that prevents downloading.

Group video won't download

Only public group videos are accessible. If the group is set to Private or requires membership to view, the video cannot be downloaded without authentication.

Reel shows as a regular video

Facebook Reels and regular videos use the same MP4 format. The downloaded file is identical in quality — only the URL structure differs.

Live video download is incomplete

Facebook Live replays are only available after the broadcast ends and is processed by Facebook. If the stream just ended, wait a few minutes and try again.

Only public Facebook videos can be downloaded with this tool. Videos from private profiles, private groups, or friends-only posts require login access and cannot be retrieved.
